This coffee table combines wood and metal in a cohesive design, using the metal inlay to add visual character to a functional piece.

Finish: Tried and True Varnish
Processes: Woodworking, Welding, Metal bending, Inlay
My goal was to create a standard-size coffee table that could fold into smaller spaces without looking like it was designed to do so. I also wanted to challenge myself with an interesting surface pattern. As a bit of a Doctor Who fan, I was drawn to the circular forms of Gallifreyan writing and thought they would make a playful, unexpected inlay. The inscription reads “Szeretlek Mindörökre,” or “I love you forever” in Hungarian.
This project also helped me develop new skills, including using a CNC router to create the inlay paths and accurately bending tubing to form the curved legs.
